Spring has sprung, Philadelphia! Over the last few absurdly warm weeks I have been planting and preparing for an amazing grow season! I have about 3 different lots this year but have only gotten my crops in on my stoop. This year I have container gardens filled with spring lettuces, flowers, and herbs. I picked up my spring lettuce starters from Urban Jungle on Passyunk for a nice $6.99 and some pansies and herbs (rosemary, basil, oregano, thyme) in the Italian Market from a vendor for about $5. The key to container gardening is good hearty organic soil (which you can also pick up at Urban Jungle) and making sure your soil has the right nutrients.
