Pesto is one of my favorite pasta sauces to experiment with. Traditionally made with basil, olive oil, pine nuts and parmesan, pesto is a great way to bring some healthy greens to a dish. I pretty much use anything I have on hand and throw as much fresh herbs in as possible.

However fresh pasta is something I have never mustered up the courage to make. The image of a disappointed Italian Grandma always haunts me when I contemplate the process. Pasta has always seemed daunting, easy to fail, and not worth it (considering you can buy the dried stuff for under $2 ) and who wants to disappoint my imaginary Italian Grandma anyway?

Gazpacho is one of those dishes that reminds me that summer is in full swing. Ruby red tomatoes are everywhere, and in the Italian market people are practically giving them away.

I love the lavender with the strawberry preserves, it offers a wonderful aromatic quality to the berries, that is simply delicious with the flakiness of the puff pastry.
LOBSTER ROLL
The 'Vacationland' of Maine harbors some of the most delicious and succulent lobsters in the country. While attending and helping out at Caravan Music Festival, held this past week in Belegrade Lakes, Maine, I had the pleasure of being able to experience the local delicacy, the infamous ''Lobster Roll', I had been craving since last years festival.
This recipe is great for summer fruits (peach, apricot, nectarine) but is also great for savory fillings too- We tried vegan chorizo and turkey with summer squash and they were all a hit, you could even go ahead an call them empanadas if you're feeling festive.
